  • Saturday's boating event may set a new world record for the largest board parade
  • More than 2,500 boaters are expected to set sail along the Jersey Shore
  • The event is a tribute to police, medical workers, and the president

Thousands of pleasure boats are expected to sail the waters of the Jersey Shore on Saturday as a tribute to the police, veterans, and President Donald Trump.

According to the New York Post, the organizers of the event believe the flotilla would feature a 10-mile span of boats. Over 2,500 vessels are expected to join the tribute. The boats will launch from across New Jersey and set sail into Barnegat Bay at around 10 a.m. ET.

The Saturday event could break the world record for the world's largest boat parade, currently set in September 2014 in Malaysia where 1,180 boats joined the procession.

Chris Molla, the lead organizer, will be joined by N.J. Councilman George Williams aboard his 10-meter Trojan International boat. His ship will be flying Old Glory and other flags supporting law-enforcement, medical workers, and President Trump.

While many participants are expected to be Trump supporters, Molla said those hoping to boost Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden are also welcome to join the event.

“It really isn’t boaters for Trump; it’s boaters for law enforcement and veterans. Trump just happens to support both of them,” Molla said.

Backers of the president have previously held boat parades to express their support for him. On Aug. 15, more than 1,000 Trump supporters took to the waters of Clearwater Beach, Fla., and made their way to nearby Madiera Beach, as reported by Conservative Grounds.

On July 18, a litany of boats waving Trump 2020 flags sailed near the Statue of Liberty. Boaters who attended the event cruised alongside other vessels and jet skis from New York Harbor up the Hudson River. The armada ended at the George Washington Bridge.

Saturday’s boat parade is one of the many scheduled to take place around the country this holiday weekend. Trumptilla, Florida’s boat event, is expected to push through on Labor Day despite its main organizer facing a felony charge.

According to The Palm Beach Post, the major event will include an airshow with jet fighters and parachuters. It will also feature guest appearances from Donald Trump Jr. and his girlfriend, Trump campaign fundraiser Kimberly Guilfoyle.
