The recent rumor claiming that the PS5 is struggling to achieve real 4K has been making rounds online. Several gaming sites previously reported about this claim since it came from a reliable insider. Interestingly, the rumor was immediately shot down by a game developer proving that the claim is not true.

PS5 Fake 4K Rumor Shut Down

Game developer TeamKill Media, the team behind the cosmic-horror title “Quantum Error,” recently shared on its official account about one of the features of the PS5. In a tweet, the game developer said that “Quantum Error” is currently running at 4K/ 65-70 FPS unoptimized. It would achieve its goal of 60 frames per second, the tweet added. The game developer emphasized in a tweet that it is still unoptimized, which means that with a little polish, the game would most certainly run better.

A few days ago, industry insider Dusk Golem said that he has heard from a source that the PS5 is ‘struggling’ to achieve 4K. PS5 players should expect fake 4K from Sony’s forthcoming gaming console, the tipster added. However, the industry insider later said that he had just heard this statement but could not confirm if it is true.

Other PS5 Details

It was officially confirmed earlier that Sony’s next-generation gaming console would support frame rates of up to 120 fps and an 8K resolution. Also, TeamKill Media’s revelation that it has achieved the smoothness and fidelity in the early part of the PS5’s software dev cycle somehow indicated that it could achieve far greater FPS and high resolution. With the release window of the PS5 drawing near, more rumors about the console are anticipated to surface online.

Sony is also rumored to offer a more expensive gaming console. Earlier, another industry insider claimed that Microsoft plans to undercut the PS5 by offering the Xbox Series X at a much lower price. Sony has not yet issued any statement related to these claims. In other words, while these claims sound interesting, it is smarter to take these with a good measure of salt.

Sony maintains that the PS5 would arrive sometime in the Holiday of 2020.
