Queen Elizabeth II has “sensitivity” toward Prince Harry due to her sister Princess Margaret.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced last month that they were stepping back as senior members of the royal family. The members of the Firm were reportedly shocked because they didn’t expect the bombshell announcement. However, the monarch decided to remain supportive of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

According to royal expert Robert Lacey, Queen Elizabeth II would be “very disappointed” with the couple’s decision especially that her job was to keep the monarchy afloat. The historian added that Her Majesty feels for her grandson and she understands what he has been going through because her younger sister Princess Margaret was just like him.

“She has a particular sensitivity to what Harry has been going through because of her closeness to Margaret and seeing the same dramas and tensions played out two generations ago,” Lacey told People.

Prince Harry struggled behind his older brother Prince William’s shadow who will someday become king. Princess Margaret experienced the same with Queen Elizabeth II.

“The younger-sibling syndrome is an enduring problem. The system has not found a way of giving them the recognition that they need,” Lacey explained.

The expert noted that the problem would only get worse when they grow older. Initially, Princess Margaret was a possible future Queen and that was true until Queen Elizabeth II produced her own heirs. When the Queen welcomed Prince Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward, Princess Margaret was pushed back further down the line of succession.

The same goes for Prince Harry. The Duke of Sussex was third in line to the throne but is currently on the sixth spot after Prince William and Middleton welcomed their three kids: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

“It is a family situation of conflict that goes back over generations,” Lacey explained.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry was spotted at the Edinburgh station sans his wife Markle. Online users felt that he didn’t look so well.

The following day, Prince Harry announced that he preferred to be called “Harry” dropping the word “prince.” Twitter users react and many said it was a mistake for him to voluntarily drop his HRH title.
