Queen Elizabeth is being criticized over her decision to strip Prince Harry and Meghan Markle off their HRH titles. Her Majesty is also accused of making up rules as she goes along.

While speaking with Express, royal expert Nigel Cawthorne lashed out at the palace for the shocking decision, which, according to him, doesn’t have real rhyme or reason.

“Under Letters Patent proclaimed in 1917, Harry has the right to call himself a prince and Meghan is a ‘princess of the United Kingdom’ as his wife,” he said.

Cawthorne also said that the royal family is still following the rules dictated by King George V in his letter patent. Decades ago, the Queen’s grandfather slimmed down the monarchy by granting the title of prince and the HRH style to the children of the sovereign, sons of the sovereign, and the eldest son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales.

“The only precedent for the monarch actively preventing relatives from calling themselves a prince were the Letters Patent. They were proclaimed at the outbreak of war with Germany by George V to strip his German relatives from their right to call themselves a British prince,” he said.

According to Express, the Queen has not actually revoked Prince Harry and Markle’s royal titles. Rather, she simply advised the royal couple to not use them.

Meanwhile, Her Majesty also made headlines this week after her favorite grandchild was revealed. According to royal insiders, Prince William and Prince Harry aren’t the Queen’s favorite even though they worked closely together.

It is actually Princess Anne’s son, Mark Phillips, who has been dubbed as the Queen’s favorite grandchild. After he was born, the Queen offered to give her grandson a courtesy title, but Princess Anne refused to accept it.

Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall, is reportedly the Queen’s second most favorite grandchild. Her Majesty reportedly adores Tindall’s down-to-earth personality, and she loves spending time with her.
