Queen Elizabeth II is a certified chocoholic.

The monarch has a sweet tooth. According to former Buckingham Palace chef Darren McGrady, the Queen loves chocolate, but she only eats dark ones.

"She likes chocolate, but only dark chocolate, the darker the better," McGrady said (via Daily Express). "She's not a big fan of milk or white chocolate."

Her Majesty's favorite chocolate for snacking is Bendicks Bittermints, small dark chocolate treats filled with mint which earned the Royal Warrant in 1962. According to McGrady, the Queen is very frugal when it comes to her meals but is far more elaborate when it comes to her snacks.

For the chef, the Queen only eats to live rather than living to eat. In fact, her frugality is in contrast to the lavish state dinners she has been attending in years.

"She's very disciplined like that," McGrady added. "She could have anything she wanted, but it is that discipline that keeps her so well and so healthy."

McGrady also revealed that "the Queen loves to eat food from the estate." The monarch usually includes home-grown vegetables, fish and pheasants from Balmoral and Windsor.

In related news, it has been reported that Meghan Markle couldn't eat her favorite potato and pasta meals at the Buckingham Palace. This is because the Queen does not include pasta, rice and potato in her menu.

Aside from this, the Queen's menu doesn't include certain spices that the Duchess of Sussex loves. "We can never serve anything with garlic or too much onions. The Queen would never have garlic on the menu," McGrady said.

Prince Harry's wife confessed earlier that her favorite go-to meal on set is seasoned veggie quinoa with garlic. "At the start of each week, I generally cook a box of quinoa, and while it's simmering, I saute onions, garlic and any veggies I have on hand in a separate pan," Markle said in the past interview.

Markle also added that she loves to cook Filipino-style chicken adobo on Sunday. She even shared her recipe for this.

" It's so easy—combine garlic, soy (or Bragg Liquid Aminos), vinegar, maybe some lemon and let the chicken swim in that sauce until it falls off the bone in a Crock Pot," the new duchess said.
