It appears Meghan Markle doesn’t always get what she wants. While it was recently shared by his biographer that Prince Harry once informed his staff that “what Meghan wants, Meghan gets,” Queen Elizabeth II is said to have not given in to the Duchess of Sussex’s desires.

Last April, royal commentator Gavin Gray revealed the details of an alleged prior spat between Her Majesty and Prince Harry’s wife. During a 2019 appearance on Studio 10, as reported by Express, Gray stated that there was once a “row” between the two women when Meghan wanted to wear a specific necklace from the Royal Collection. This incident, he claimed, resulted in a “cold rebuttal” from the Queen.

“...Meghan wanted this particular necklace, Harry said ‘Meghan gets what Meghan wants,’ and the Queen turned around and said ‘oh, no, she doesn’t. I decide what necklace is going to be worn out of the Royal Collection,’” Gray said.

His report came weeks after it was revealed that certain pieces of the Royal Collection, made “famous” by the late Princess Diana, were to be reserved for other members of the royal family, such as Meghan’s sister-in-law Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.

"This also fits in with this idea in some ways Harry feels Meghan is being looked down, not being given the same footing or standing as Kate. This is an ongoing battle and a row I can see brewing,” Gray added.

Prior to the speculated spat between the Queen and Meghan, Page Six reported that the Queen decided not to loan particular items of jewelry to the former actress due to reportedly being “less than impressed by some of Meghan’s behavior.”

“This is a surprising situation that has been going on behind the scenes over the past few months and has caused tension and upset, especially for Harry,” said a so-called “impeccably-placed royal insider” at the time.

“It is at the discretion of the Queen and trusted advisers which items in the Royal Collection she chooses to loan out and to whom. Aspects of Meghan’s behavior, including before the Royal Wedding, caused resentment with forces within Buckingham Palace. To be perfectly honest, the Queen herself was not impressed with some of Meghan’s demands, especially as a new member of the family. As a result, Buckingham Palace has decided that not all items from the Queen’s royal collection will be opened up to Meghan.”

The "senior" source added, “As part of that situation, the Queen informed Prince William that the items from the Royal Collection worn by Princess Diana would not immediately be made available to Meghan. The Queen likes Meghan personally but this is about the hierarchy. She is showing that maintaining the correct order and precedence within the family is important. Even if Meghan is the most popular woman in the world, she is of a lower rank than Kate.”
