Queen Elizabeth II gives her royal staff presents every year on Christmas Day.

According to Reader’s Digest, the Queen sends out an email to her staff as early as March and asks them what they want to receive for the holidays. However, this doesn’t mean that the Queen can give them anything they want. Her Majesty simply gives her staff options to choose from.

Royal staff can ask the monarch for vouchers for the holidays. They may also choose between a gift token or a book token from the Queen. As long as the royal staff has worked for Her Majesty for an entire year or more, they are qualified to receive a gift on Dec. 25.

The Queen’s most junior staff gives a voucher worth $35. But this amount increases a bit in terms of value depending on the years of service. The tokens that are given by the Queen are capped at $44.

Her Majesty’s most senior staff go first when it’s time to receive the gifts. They are followed by the clerks, the domestic workers, and gardeners. It has been revealed that the names of the staff are called by the Lord Chamberlain, but it is the Queen that hands them their gift personally.

And as part of the Queen’s Christmas tradition, she reportedly gifts churches and schools in the Sandringham area with Christmas trees. She also extends the same gesture to Westminster Abbey, St. Paul’s Cathedral, St. Giles’ Cathedral, and the Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh.

In related news, the Queen has also required the members of the royal family to celebrate Christmas in Sandringham with her and Prince Philip. Despite an alleged ongoing feud, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expected to attend a Christmas service mass with Prince William and Kate Middleton on Christmas morning.

Other than this, the members of the royal family are also requested to watch the Queen’s favorite morning program with her. A source revealed that Her Majesty loves to watch the British soap opera “EastEnders.”

The royal family is also expected to dine together and exchange gifts on Christmas Day.
