Queen Elizabeth II made a bold move for Prince Harry a year ago.

Last year, just a month before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s royal wedding, the monarch appointed Prince Harry as the new president for the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust charity. Prince Harry was recognized on the website’s About page where it featured the royal with a quote that read: “You are the most optimistic, connected generation the world has ever known.”

Prior to the appointment, there were already rumors that Prince Harry would take a bigger role in the Commonwealth. In fact, royal biographer Andrew Morton suggested that even if Prince William is the second-in-line to the throne, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would spend more time representing the monarchy in the Commonwealth.

In the same year, Queen Elizabeth II chose Prince Harry to fill a youth leadership role in the Commonwealth. Prince William’s brother also spoke at Commonwealth Youth Forum.

Things were pretty great between Her Majesty, Prince Harry and Markle last year. However, based on one netizen’s post, it seemed that things weren’t as fine between the trio today compared to the previous year.

According to Hege K Hansen, Prince Harry took Markle to an expensive hotel earlier this month because the Queen wanted them out of Kensington Palace by April 1 but their new home, Frogmore Cottage, is still not ready. The couple was supposed to move in Windsor before March ended, but it was delayed because the “demanding royal couple keep making design changes.” The renovation for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new home almost cost over $4 million.

Initially, many thought of Prince Harry and Markle’s stay at Heckfield Place hotel was to celebrate babymoon. They stayed at Long Room, which costs $13,000 per night. Meanwhile, they took three protection officers with them who occupied $457-a-night rooms. It is not known if Prince Harry and Markle were charged full price, but the rooms that they occupied including those of their protection officers already cost $43,000.

Last week, Prince Harry and Markle announced that they would keep their birth plans a secret. A number of netizens understood and supported their choice. However, others slammed the couple, claiming that they pay for the privileged lives that Prince Harry and Markle enjoy, so they are entitled to know the updates on their baby.
