They say that with the good comes the bad and the saying holds true when it comes to technology. Unfortunately, the bad has reportedly put Queen Elizabeth II, the rest of the British royal family and, frankly, all people at risk if authorities are unable to find a way to neutralize a new technological threat.

Alex Bomberg, CEO of Intelligent Protection International Limited, a European-based firm that provides Royal Bodyguard Services to foreign royalty, elaborated on what exactly it is that could put the Queen in danger.

"One of the major concerns, which is a new concern, is drones being weaponized. That sort of thing is a new, emerging threat," he told Express.

"We’ve seen drones being used in Afghanistan against forces there, and in Syria, I believe there was an incident with a drone in Yemen as well recently," Bomberg added. “So this is normal drones but people weaponizing them. So there’s an issue of that as well."

Drones are a giant leap from the security threat Buckingham Palace faced last month. On July 10, an intruder jumped the gates of the London residence and attempted to enter. Security was able to apprehend the culprit within four minutes, however, what if he had one these weaponized drones?

Bomberg seems to be keeping an eye on this "emerging threat" and says his Royal Protection Team are "pretty much on their toes."
