Queen Elizabeth will reportedly self-quarantine at Windsor Castle as a precautionary measure amid the escalating coronavirus pandemic in the United Kingdom and the world.

“A sensible precaution and for practical reasons in the current circumstances, a number of changes are being made to the Queen’s diary. Audiences due to take place this week at Buckingham Palace will go ahead as planned. These include receiving the prime minister, the commanding officer of HMS Queen Elizabeth and the Bishop of Hereford. Future audiences will be reviewed on an ongoing basis in line with the appropriate advice,” the royal family tweeted.

In a follow-up tweet, the royal family announced that future engagements with the Queen and the other members of the British clan have been postponed.

“In consultation with the Medical Household and Government, a number of public events with the large numbers of people due to having been attended by the Queen, and other members of the royal family, in the coming months will be canceled or postponed,” they tweeted.

Prior to the royal family’s announcement, royal expert Angela Mollard already predicted that the Queen may stop her public outings to avoid undue risks to Prince Philip. Even though the royal couple is not living together, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh still see each other every now and then.

“They are very vulnerable and, of course, she’s married to Prince Philip who’s been in ill-health himself. I don’t think they’ll take any risks, particularly with the Queen and her having contact with the public,” Mollard told “The Morning Show.”

Prince Philip has been retreating in the Queen’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk since he retired from his royal duties in 2017. He has not been spotted in public in months. The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are susceptible to getting hit hard by the coronavirus because of their age.
