Chicago Rapper Lil Reese was in critical condition after being shot in the neck by someone Monday.

The incident took place at 2:30 p.m. local time (3:30 p.m. EST) at Country Club Hills, Illinois, on Monday. The 26-year-old rapper, whose original name is Tavares Taylor but popularly known by his stage name Lil Reese, reportedly suffered a single gunshot wound to the neck.

Country Club Hills Police said officers responded to reports of a shooting at the 167th Street and Pulaski Road and found identified a car with fresh blood on the driver’s seat and on the ground adjacent to the car door. They did not find anyone at the crime scene.

According to reports, witnesses told police that the victim was taken to a hospital nearby by a man. Police said he was first admitted at South Suburban Hospital and was transferred to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where officials identified the victim as Taylor. His condition was critical.

The cause of the shooting was not known. So far, no arrests were made and police were investigating the case.
