The latest rumor regarding Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez’s relationship claimed that the couple went shopping for an engagement ring earlier this month. While the pair was head-over-heels in love, they have not yet announced any plans to get engaged and hence, the rumor can be debunked.

The false narrative was spun by Life & Style magazine, which tried to unsuccessfully prove that Lopez accompanied her beau when he went hunting for the perfect engagement ring for the “Ain’t Your Mama” singer because he was “terrified of picking out the wrong ring.”

A so-called anonymous source told the tabloid the pair went shopping in the high-end jewelry store Cartier in Miami on Nov. 2. The questionable tipster went on to add that Lopez was incredibly picky when it came to choosing the right jewelry especially “engagement rings,” which had to be nothing less than “flawless.”

Apart from the one adjective to describe Lopez’s choice of jewelry (which was vague at best), the tabloid refrained from mentioning any additional detail about what kind engagement ring the former baseball player picked out for his girlfriend, such as its price or the cut of the diamond, or if the pair at all managed to zero in on the ring that day.

Instead, the fabricated article went on to talk about Lopez’s fondness for bling and she even wrote a song titled “El Anillo,” which means “The Ring.” The lack of details about the supposed engagement was the first red flag regarding the magazine’s story.

Also, Gossip Cop contacted a source close to Lopez who confirmed, on condition of anonymity, the tabloid’s story was “not true.”

This was not the first time that Life & Style magazine had concocted a purely fictional story about the celebrity couple and passed it off as reality. Last year, the publication put out a story titled “J. Lo & A-Rod: Wedding & A Baby!” where another unreliable source claimed that Lopez and Rodriguez were getting “married by the summer [of 2017]” and were in the process of adopting “[a baby] from Puerto Rico, where she has family, or the Dominican Republic, where Alex’s family is from.”

Just like the current report, that rumor too was rubbished at the time.
