A fraudulent tabloid recently tried to claim actress and singer Jennifer Lopez was planning to get married to her boyfriend Alex Rodriguez next year and they had started hunting for the perfect venue for holding the ceremony. Both the claims were debunked by Gossip Cop.

The tabloid, which tried to spread the false rumor was NW magazine that cited a so-called “spy” who claimed to inside scoop on what Lopez and Rodriguez were planning for their alleged wedding next year. The truth, however, was the couple was not even engaged yet — a fact that did not make a difference to the anonymous tipster.

“J. Lo and A. Rod are unofficially engaged and have been for a few months now. With the end of the year approaching, their wedding plans have gone up a notch and it’s their top priority to get it all locked down and send invites as soon as possible,” the unnamed sourced said.

The insider continued with its less-than-accurate narrative, claiming the former baseball star wasn’t “sparing any expense” to make sure he gets the best wedding venue for his girlfriend, which ranged from a “plush estate in the Hampton” to a “five-star hotel” in either Miami or New York.

The fact that the couple was still “looking at lots of fancy places” and had not finalized their wedding venue yet and still expected to get married by early next year, was the first red flag in the tabloid’s concocted inaccurate story because it was almost impossible to book a luxury hotel just a couple of months in advance for an occasion as major as a celebrity wedding.

However, it was not just that the couple had not selected the venue yet. Even the guest list was pending, if the questionable source had to be believed. Apparently, the pair “want a star-studded guest list” and were preparing to make sure that every invitee received “expensive bling as a going-home present.”

Regardless of the fact that the story made no sense, the tipster claimed Rodriguez had “set $10 million aside and will spend more if they have to” for tying knot with Lopez as he wanted “the best of the best for music, as well as food and drink.”

It was significant to point out that having retired from playing for the Yankees, Rodriguez presently earned considerably less than what he used at the peak of his career and hence it would absurd for him to be thinking about spending such a huge sum of money on his wedding when he was trying to reduce his child and spousal support payments that he makes to his ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis.

Moreover, Gossip Cop reached out to a close acquaintance of Rodriguez who confirmed NW’s article had no semblance of truth in it and that neither Lopez, nor her boyfriend were scouring for wedding venues.
