  • Red Velvet will be a part of a collaboration project

Red Velvet’s Wendy will be joining the K-pop group in their upcoming promotions after taking a months-long hiatus due to an injury.

The K-pop singer's management, SM Entertainment, recently gave fans a new update regarding Wendy, confirming that she has recovered from the injuries she incurred due to a stage accident. New photos of Wendy set social media ablaze, with fans rejoicing over her long-awaited return.

Last year, Wendy, born Son Seung-wan, was rehearsing for her solo performance for the 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon in December when she fell from the platform and hurt herself. The singer had fallen from a height of over 2 meters, resulting in a “fractured pelvis and injuries to her face and wrist,” according to a statement from her management.

In July, SM Entertainment announced that Red velvet would be a part of the cover compilation project called “Our Beloved BoA,” but supporters weren’t sure if Wendy would be able to join the rest of the team in performing “Milky Way.”

So when SM Entertainment shared full-body photos of Wendy as part of the promotion for the project, Red Velvet fans were glad to see her back on her feet.

“[Wendy] has recovered significantly, and she will participate in Red Velvet’s promotional activities in ways that are not too strenuous for her,” SM Entertainment said.

As of writing, the agency’s teaser has received over 50,000 likes and has been retweeted over 23,000 times. Avid fans of Wendy and Red Velvet stormed the comments section, expressing their joy over her recovery.

“BOA BROUGHT WENDY BACK TO US. THANK YOU BOA,” one fan tweeted.

“I swear I can't explain tha happiness that I feel rn!!!” another user replied to another fan, who said this was the first time they had seen Wendy “as a Luvie.”

Meanwhile, during her eight months of treatment and rest, Wendy stayed busy, joining many Korean stars in donating for the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. In February, she gave more than $80,000 to the Community Chest of Korea to benefit medical staff and coronavirus patients.

Fellow Red Velvet members Yeri, Seulgi and Joy also donated over $25,000 to the Community Chest of Korea.
