Chinese telecom giant ZTE has showcased its new line of Nubia smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. The Nubia Red Magic 7 sports a contemporary design and prides itself as the first smartphone with the most-advanced chipset.

Hardware and design

The Red Magic 7 looks similar to the Red Magic 6S Pro, with the same translucent rear showcasing the internal fan. And since the smartphone is being advertised as a gaming mobile device, it takes care of gamers' needs.

Specs and performance

The latest iteration to the RedMagic smartphone does not limit itself to be defined by raw gaming power. It is equipped with impressive software, cameras and support to make it a worthwhile buy.

The Red Magic 7 houses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which runs its whole setup. Aside from the built-in fan, it also features shoulder triggers that can be mapped to the screen.

It has a headphone jack positioned above the huge 6.8-inch 165Hz screen for those who want to have the ultimate gaming experience on their mobile phone. Moreover, Red Magic 7 has 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB storage, meaning, users will not have to worry about running out of space on the device or experiencing lag.

The battery capacity is relatively small packing only 4,500 mAH. But, it utilizes the neo-AI engine, allowing it to last for a day or two. In case users run out of battery, the 65-watt GaN fast charger will help them reach 100% power in less than 30 minutes.

Unfortunately, the Red Magic 7 does not have an IP rating, so users should be extra careful when using it since it does not have any protection from dust and water.

The gaming smartphone is scheduled to release on March 10 with a starting price of $630.

ZTE's Nubia has impressively found a way to develop a good gaming smartphone through Red Magic 7. With the technology and features that solved a lot of issues plaguing most smartphones these days, the Red Magic 7 is a product worthy of our Best of MWC 2022 award.
