Rescuers in Massachusetts have bravely trudged through the freezing water to save a horse that was trapped in ice.

Warwick MA Fire Department received a call Wednesday about a horse that needed assistance. The animal was then found stuck in the water, covered in a thin sheet of ice off White Road.

Rescuers clad in cold water suits and equipped with ropes began the rescue mission as soon as they arrived at the scene, reported Tri-City Herald.

"The Chief arrived on the scene first and requested mutual aid to the scene from the Orange Fire Department and horse rescue equipment out of the Royalston Fire Department to the scene. "Warwick members entered the water to aid the horse out of the water by breaking the ice for the horse," the statement continued.

The horse was successfully retrieved and reunited with his homeowner, according to WCVB Channel 5.

"Thank you to our mutual aid departments that responded to aid us today," the fire department said further.

Many who saw the Facebook post lauded the rescuers for bringing the horse back to safety.

"Great job working to rescue the horse and keeping each other safe!" a netizen commented.

"Great job. That horse is very lucky you were there," another person noted.

"That must have been one cold horse!!" one commenter said, adding: "Thank you for rescuing!"

In a similar incident, rescuers in New York saved a doe that was caught between the fences of a school Tuesday morning. Rescuers found the distressed animal upside down and wedged between the two chain-link fences surrounding Rocky Point High School in Long Island. Rescuers cut the fence until there was enough space for the doe to get out without injuring itself. Luckily, the animal did not sustain any serious injuries and ran back into the wild as soon as it was freed.
