“Return To Amish” star Jeremiah Raber has revealed he is divorcing his wife, Carmela. TLC

He faced extensive criticism after he was revealed to have reportedly abused his wife Carmela ahead of the Season 4 premiere of “Return to Amish.” Now, Jeremiah Raber has indicated that things are once again good between him and his wife, and has also shared an update regarding fellow troubled cast member Sabrina High.

In a series of Facebook posts ahead of the season finale of the TLC show, Raber took to Facebook to first reveal that he was no longer going to try and give Sabrina, who was arrested last month on new drug charges, help with her problems. In his post, Jeremiah revealed that he had tried to help her get into rehab, as had Carmela and others from the show, but none of them had succeeded. Now, he was closing the book and refusing to give her help she wouldn’t take.

In May, Sabrina was booked on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Driving an Unregistered Vehicle, and Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, in relation to an offense which had initially occurred back in April.

At the time of the offense, Sabrina has been in the middle of a year-long probation sentence from a previous charge of Hindering Apprehension or Prosecution, which was believed to have been tied to an incident in 2016 when one of her friends died of a heart attack in her car. She then lost custody of her elder daughter, Oakley, for the second time after that incident. It was unclear if she had custody of her younger daughter, Arianna, at the time of the arrest.

Jeremiah wasn’t the first cast member to previously refuse to continue supporting Sabrina after she rejected help. In Season 3 of the show, as she fought to get custody of Oakley back after her drug addiction battle, she saw fellow cast members Abe and Rebecca Schmucker refusing to give her any more help or sympathy either, after they revealed they had tried to help her get clean by offering to move her to Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, where she could get a job and start her life over after rehab. Abe alleged in an episode of the show that Sabrina quickly returned to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, where she relapsed. Abe claimed he refused to help her because he had seen relapse too many times before with his brother, Andrew Schmucker, and Sabrina responded with an open letter to Abe where she detailed why she thought he was wrong, but saying she also understood his position.

“You don’t have to believe in me. Trust me, I have found it hard enough to believe in myself at times,” she wrote. “So I can’t blame y’all for not believing in my either. All I can do is continue to live my life and do the next thing. Being angry at you for your hurtful words doesn’t hurt you, it only hurts me. I don’t want to be that kind of person.”

Sabrina has not responded to Jeremiah’s refusal to help her.

In a second post, Jeremiah revealed that his own troubles, after he was arrested for domestic abuse against Carmela before the season premiere of the show in April, were over, and Carmela had taken him back. He also revealed that he was still working on the marriage and focusing on making things better with her every day going forward.

“Return to Amish” has not officially been renewed for a fifth season.
