Will Cole Sprouse’s Jughead and Lili Reinhart’s Betty in “Riverdale” win choice TV ship at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards? The CW

“Riverdale” and some of its cast members have just been nominated at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards.

The complete list, which is posted on TV Line, revealed that The CW’s “Riverdale” is one of the five other TV series that are up for this year’s choice breakout TV show. “Riverdale” will be competing against Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” NBC’s “This Is Us,” Freeform’s “Famous In Love,” NBC’s “Timeless” and FOX’s “Star.”

“Riverdale” cast members KJ Apa and Lili Reinhart are also nominated in the choice breakout TV star categories. They will be competing against “This Is Us” star Chrissy Metz, “Stranger Things” actors Finn Wolfhard and Millie Bobby Brown and “Star” actor Ryan Destiny for the fans’ votes.

Reinhart and Cole Sprouse’s onscreen characters Betty and Jughead, who also make up the Bughead couple, are nominated in the choice TV ship category. They are up against “Pretty Little Liars” couple Emison (Emily and Alison), “The 100” couple Bellarke (Bellamy and Clarke), “Supergirl” pair Karamel (Kara and Mon-El), “Teen Wolf’s” Stydia (Stiles Stilinski and Lydia Martin) and “Shadowhunters” duo Malec (Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood).

Additionally, Camila Mendes, who plays the role of Veronica Lodge in “Riverdale,” is nominated in the choice scene stealer category. Other nominees include Colin O’Donoghue of “Once Upon A Time,” Josh Gad in “Beauty and the Beast,” Michael Rooker in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” RJ Cyler in “Power Rangers” and Taylor Lautner in “Scream Queens.”

Other categories at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards include choice summer TV actress, choice summer TV actor, choice summer TV show, choice liplock, choice hissy fit and choice TV villain. The 2017 Teen Choice Awards will air on FOX on Aug. 13 at 5 p.m. EDT.

Meanwhile, “Riverdale” Season 2 will premiere on The CW on Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. EST. Ahead of its return, some set photos have been shared by the cast. Madchen Amick shared a snap with Reinhart at Pop’s Diner via her Twitter account on Wednesday, July 11. She also uploaded a picture with Martin Cummins last month. Ashleigh Murray, who plays the role of Josie, gave Season 2 newcomer Mark Consuelos a warm welcome via her Twitter account. Molly Ringwald also confirmed her return next season via a photo with Sprouse and Apa.
