‘Riverdale’
Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) will shock everyone with another big secret reveal in “Riverdale” Season 1, episode 13. The CW

“Riverdale” Season 1 recently revealed that Clifford Blossom (Barclay Hope) was the one who murdered his own son, Jason Blossom (Trevor Stines).

In episode 12, Betty (Lili Reinhart) and her friends watched a video that showed Clifford shooting Jason in the head. A shocked Betty called her older sister, Polly (Tiera Skovbye), and urged her to leave the Blossom household immediately. Cheryl later on found out the truth about her dad’s deed, and she confronted him at the dinner table. With tears falling down her cheeks, a devastated Cheryl told Clifford that he did a very bad thing.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Robert Aguirre-Sacasa said that Cheryl will struggle with the news in the finale episode of “Riverdale” Season 1. “She’s not in a good place. She loved her brother, and to finally have the closure of knowing who killed him, but knowing it was someone she shared a home and life with, as chilly as it might be, is devastating to her. The prospect of what faces her, which is life alone with Penelope, is soul-crushing, so she’s in the worst place we’ve ever seen her,” he said.

Another shocking revelation in episode 12 had to do with the relationship between the Blossoms and the Coopers. Betty’s dad, Hal (Lochlyn Munro), told her and Alice (Madchen Amick) that they are actually related to the Blossoms. However, they severed ties with them years ago and decided to use the surname Cooper. According to Aguirre-Sacasa, this information will force the Coopers and Blossoms to come together as one big family.

“They’re going to start being more truthful and they’re going to start have less secrets among them. They idea of them being one big family will come into play when Polly has those kids and it’s really a blended a family that is there for Polly,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the shocking storylines in “Riverdale” Season 1 won’t end with Jason’s killer’s identity reveal, as well as the Cooper family’s connection to the Blossom clan. While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the showrunner said that Cheryl will have another twisted story in episode 13. “Cheryl has a shocking story in the finale, probably even darker than Clifford killing Jason. She’s at her worst place emotionally that she’s ever been. And by the way, she’s already been in a fraught, frayed place. It gets even worse,” he said.

But despite Jason’s death, Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed that Stines will still be part of “Riverdale” Season 2. The character will be featured in a series of flashbacks. “I feel like there are strands and tentacles coming out of the Jason Blossom mystery that we’ll always be playing. Is it the last time we’ve seen Trevor as Jason? I would say no, you might see him again,” he said.

“Riverdale” Season 1 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on The CW. The finale episode, titled “Chapter Thirteen: The Sweet Hereafter,” will be released on May 11. In the installment, Archie (KJ Apa) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) will continue to grow closer to each other.
