Robert Pattinson is all set to take over Ben Affleck as Batman in the upcoming Batman flick.

As reported by Variety the 33-year-old British actor is supposedly in deep negotiations for the said role, with Matt Reeves, though nothing has been finalized as of now. Besides Pattinson, Nicholas Hoult is second in line for the coveted role.

An insider at Warner Bros told Hollywoodlife that “it’s 95% Robert’s film.” The source further added, “Robert is most likely going to get the role of ‘Batman’, WB [Warner Bros.] wants to see the fan reaction and online reaction to the news first.”

And looks like they may have their answer already, since just minutes after the rumor started attracting attention, fans went wild on Twitter.

“Can't help but recall reactions to @MichaelKeaton & Christian Bale being handed the cape & cowl ... and social media didn't even exist then. Both turned out to be pretty good choices. To that end, I say give #RobertPattinson a chance. And don't judge what you have yet to see.” One fan tweeted

“Say hi to your new Bruce Wayne. #RobertPattinson #Batman” another fan wrote

Fans are clearly excited to see Robert Pattinson as the new Bruce Wayne, but the Hollywoodlife report also states that the makers have an eye for Hoult as well. They are waiting to see how ‘Tolkien’ performs at the box-office, following which the final decision will be made.

So let’s see who finally gets to take over from Ben Affleck as the new Caped Crusader, and whoever gets it the news won’t be out before the Comic Con.

Initially, Affleck was all set to star and direct the film, but he stepped down following personal issues. The pre-production on the DC world’s upcoming project is expected to begin this summer.

Meanwhile, Pattinson is all set to start filming for Christopher Nolan’s event movie, which is slated for July 17, 2020. Besides that, he has four more movies lined up for 2019, which includes Claire Denis’ High Life, Robert Eggers’ The Lighthouse (which is set to debut at Cannes this weekend), Netflix’s The King, and Waiting for the Barbarians.

So, 2019 is clearly going to be a pleasant year for all Robert Pattinson fans, and while everyone waits for Warner Bros to come to a final decision about the casting of Batman, let's just hope that the best man wins.
