The “Roswell” reboot welcomed an original cast member in episode 9. The CW drama brought Liz Parker actress Shiri Appleby on to direct, and it sounds like this is one the shippers won’t want to miss.

“This episode has a lot of romance in it,” she teased to KROQ. “A lot of relationships that I think the viewers want to see that are paying respect to the original show are kind of getting their time in this episode and kind of starting the season going in a different direction. So it was a pretty big episode.”

“Roswell, New Mexico” showrunner Carina Adly MacKenzie told TVLine that it’ll include some nods that original fans will love. “I wanted Shiri to direct this specific episode because it contains an homage to my favorite moment from the OG ‘Roswell.’ Shiri did an incredible job — particularly with Max and Liz’s first truly honest conversation since Liz learned the truth about Max’s involvement with her sister’s death,” MacKenzie teased.

It looks like Season 1, episode 9 will take the aliens and humans out of New Mexico.

“Max (Nathan Dean Parsons) and Michael (Michael Vlamis) travel to Texas to visit a faith healer, who may be able to shed some light on the alien symbol Max has been researching,” the synopsis teases.

Max recently learned that his tattoo means something. Wyatt Long (Dylan McTee) was involuntarily drawing it while claiming to have no memory of killing Grant Green (Peter Diseth) and trying to burn Liz (Jeanine Mason) alive, and Max’s mom (Claudia Black) revealed that Michael drew the symbol all over when they were first out of the pods. The aliens wonder if this faith healer, who is using a symbol similar to Max’s tattoo, could be another extraterrestrial.

They’re hoping that this woman is an alien with answers so they can take Isobel (Lily Cowles) out of the alien pod. She got her hands on the serum that was supposed to take her powers away but ended up nearly killing her. Liz figured out how to put her back into her pod until an antidote for the serum can be created.

Liz will get out of the lab for a road trip in Tuesday’s “Roswell, New Mexico.” This Texas faith healer is getting a lot of business from the small town. “Meanwhile, Maria (Heather Hemmens) and Liz pay a visit to the same faith healer in hopes of finding a cure for Maria’s ailing mother (Sherri Saum),” the episode 9 logline reveals.

Liz will, of course, run into Max while in Texas. It might be a steamy meet up if Appleby’s hints are correct. When a fan on Twitter said they hoped she was directing the reboot’s version of “Heat Wave,” which was a pretty sexy episode of the original, the director seemed optimistic.

There will be a few people left at home, though. “Elsewhere, Alex (Tyler Blackburn) and Kyle (Michael Trevino) look into what Sergeant Manes (Trevor St. John) may be hiding,” the summary reveals.

“Roswell, New Mexico” Season 1, episode 9 airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
