Salem
Will Countess Marburg return to “Salem”? Find out by watching Season 3, episode 5 on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 9 p.m. EST on WGN America. WGN America

WGN America TV series “Salem” premiered an exciting episode peppered with shocking reveals. The most shocking of these twists was that the great reverend Cotton Mather (Seth Gabel) is going to be a father. Tituba (Ashley Madekwe) told the Cambridge educated priest that he will have a son soon.

Season 3, episode 4 ended with Cotton being presented with a choice: Go back to Boston and tell them about the devil in Salem or go back to Salem and raise your child. If he chose to go to Boston, then he may never see his son. What will he chose?

The upcoming episode of the WGN series will see the return of a fan-favorite character. The synopsis states that “A traitor is exposed while a ghost from Salem’s past makes a shocking appearance.”

From the promo of episode 5, suitably titled “The Witch Is Back,” all clues point to the resurrection of Countess Marburg (Lucy Lawless). Her son Sebastian (Joe Doyle) is seen feeding her Mary Sibley’s (Janet Montgomery) blood. It is possible that the blood revives the corpse of the Countess. It would certainly be a treat to watch Lawless’ character come to life on screen.

Furthermore, the trailer hints of a fight that takes place between the devil (Oliver Bell) and his faithful bodyguard The Sentinel (Samuel Roukin). “We did not suffer the wrath of God only to make you God instead,” he tells Mary’s son while he plays a board game.

Meanwhile, Mary tries to partner up with Cotton. “The devil is here,” she tells Increase Mather’s son, “But whether he merely walks this earth or rules it may be up to the two of us.” Will Cotton trust Mary to stop the devil after she killed his father?
