Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Samsung Tomorrow

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 won’t be official for approximately four more months but now a report has singled out a specific launch date for the device: Wednesday, Sept. 3.

Tech website Android Greeks has revealed that the same insider that accurately projected the unveiling date for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 as Sept. 4 has tipped that the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 may be unveiled on Sept. 3. Though this date has not been confirmed by Samsung Electronics Co. (NASDAQ:SSNLF), it is plausible seeing as Galaxy Note devices are usually launched in the month of September. Specifically, Galaxy Note devices are usually launched at or around the IFA Expo in Berlin.

The original Galaxy Note was announced at IFA 2011 in September and released in October, while the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was announced at the Berlin Radio Show in August 2012, which took place just before the opening of that year’s IFA event, and released in September. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was unveiled during a press preview day for IFA 2013, which took place from Sept. 6 to 11, and released on Sept. 25. IFA 2014 takes place from Sept. 5 – 10, which would likely make its press preview days Sept. 3 and Sept. 4.

Notably, the late-February unveiling event for the Samsung Galaxy S5 was called Samsung Unpacked 2014: Episode One. Episode Two will likely be the unveiling event for the Galaxy Note 4; Samsung similarly named its unveiling events for the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 last year, Samsung Unpacked 2013: Episode One and Episode Two.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Possible Software Features

If the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is unveiled on Sept. 3, it may include a host of new software features. A source revealed to tech website SamMobile on Friday a list of these features, which includes ‘Swipe to launch Motion Launcher’, ‘Aqua Capture’, ‘Multi Network for Booster’, and ‘Smart Fingerprint.’ According to the source, Samsung is currently testing out the new software features for the next Galaxy Note on Galaxy S5 hardware.

The Swipe to launch Motion Launcher is reportedly a feature similar to the Motion Launcher feature on the HTC One M8, which allows users to wake their phone with tapping and swiping gestures. The Aqua Capture feature may indicate some sort of underwater camera function, similar to the Aqua Mode function on the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active. The Multi Network for Booster feature may be a version of the Download Booster feature introduced on the Samsung Galaxy S5, which combines a Wi-Fi and mobile data connection to download large files faster. The Smart Fingerprint feature may indicate customization for the fingerprint sensor, which was introduced on the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Seeing that these features are reportedly in a testing phase, there is not telling whether or not they will actually make it into the Samsung Galaxy Note 4.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Other Possible Features

There are several other features being projected for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4. GSM Area proposes that the device may feature a display that is the same size as the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 ay 5.7-inches, but with a QHD (1440x2560) resolution. Additionally, a Samsung executive told Bloomberg in January that the manufacturer has plans to utilize a “new form factor,” for the Galaxy Note 4, likely a curved or three-sided display, which would allow uses to read messages from an angle.

Like other devices in the Note series, the Galaxy Note 4 should have an S Pen stylus. The Galaxy Note 4 is also expected to be water and dust resistant likes that Samsung Galaxy S5.

The model number SM-N910 is currently associated with the Galaxy Note 4 and tech informant Evleaks recently detailed that the device would be offered by the carriers AT&T (NYSE:T), U.S. Cellular (FRA:US7) and Sprint (NYSE:S) in a 32GB internal storage option.
