Samsung has officially confirmed the existence of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active smartphone by listing it in supported models for its Samsung Level app. Hence, the Galaxy S7 is expected to get announced soon.

In the previous week, the rumor mill had revealed that the South Korean tech giant is working on Galaxy S7 Active smartphone, a ruggedized version of the Galaxy S7 smartphone that was announced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2016 event in February. The Samsung Level app has included the unreleased Galaxy S7 Active in the list of supported devices in its changelog, Sam Mobile reported.

The listing only confirms the existence of the device but there is no information available on its specifications. Evan Blass, the popular leakster had revealed that the Galaxy S7 Active has a model number of SM-G891A considering the fact the Galaxy S6 Active that was released has a model number of SM-G890A.

The Galaxy S6 Active has a military grade protection rating of MIL-STD-810G. The same feature is expected to be available on the Galaxy S7 Active. The already announced Galaxy S7 comes with waterproof and dust resistant chassis. Such features protect the device from minor problems like water contact through rain and spillage in daily life.

However, the military grade rating will protect the Galaxy S7 Active from extreme cold and hot temperature, shock, humidity, salt and other such problems. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is packed with a huge battery of 3500 mAh capacity compared to the smaller capacity battery of the Galaxy S6. Hence, the Galaxy S7 Active is also expected to feature a long lasting battery than its regular version.

Blass had revealed that the company is already testing the device as it was found listed on an Indian import-export tracking site. He revealed that the Galaxy S7 Active will be made available through AT&T. The Galaxy S6 Active is exclusively available through AT&T, Phone Arena reported.

Samsung is also rumored to be working on a smaller version of the Galaxy S7 flagship smartphone. The purported Galaxy S7 Mini is said to feature a 4.6-inch display that will carry support for HD resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. It is expected to be powered either by Exynos 8890 or Snapdragon 820 SoC that will be coupled with 4 GB of RAM.

For photography, it is expected to house a 12-megapixel camera. The slimness of the device will be 9.9 mm. Rumors suggest that it will be launched to take on the 4-inch Apple iPhone SE smartphone that was announced in the previous week.
