  • Al-Nassr interested in Mesut Ozil
  • Ozil plans to play out next season with Arsenal
  • Ozil could be loaned out by Arsenal this season

Mesut Ozil holds an uncertain future although there is growing interest in the 31-year-old footballer. He is still under contract with Arsenal FC, the German has drawn attention in the Turkish league but prefers to play out his current deal with the Gunners.

With Ozil grounded, there is a growing belief that he could be sold or loaned next season. The latest team linked to the German defender is Al-Nassr of Saudi Arabia.

Ozil has allegedly dangled a $20 million per year contract. However, it appears Al-Nassr is in no rush, aware that the final say remains with Arsenal. If nothing goes down this year, the Saudi club is ready to wait until next year when Ozil's contract runs out, Fanatik reported.

Al-Nassr becomes the second club linked to Ozil. The first one was Fenerbahce of the Turkish Super League but the German opted to stick with the Gunners despite his predicament. The 31-year-old prefers to play out his deal and weigh his options next summer once his contract runs out.

“I'm here through to the last day of our agreement and I'll give everything I have for this club. I'll decide when I go, not other people. I didn't sign for two or three years. I signed for four and that should be respected by everyone,” Ozil said.

Ozil has been held out since the football restart with most speculating that he has a falling out with Mikel Arteta. Some are suggesting that his attitude is one of the reasons behind the benching. Along with Matteo Guendouzi, some see both players moving out though Arteta has not closed the door completely if both are ready to accept his challenge and align.

Like Guendouzi, Ozil has been keeping himself in shape. He is training with Getafe midfielder and former Arsenal colleague Mathieu Flamini, a photo of which was shared on social media. The caption read: "It's always fun working out with people who motivate you."

Seeing Ozil back at Emirates Stadium is not looking good, especially after he openly criticized the club, saying that Arsenal rushed everyone into pay cuts during the COVID-19. Arteta dismissed this claim and said that the club had a plan in place to restructure the team to be more stable moving forward.
