Scarlett Johansson is very clear that she wouldn’t have dated her husband, Colin Jost, when they were teenagers.

In her interview on the latest episode of “The Drew Barrymore Show,” the Oscar-nominated actress opened up about her marriage to Jost, and talked about how timing played an important role in their relationship.

While sharing their thoughts on Jost’s high school style, Barrymore referenced a throwback photo posted by Jost himself during his recent hosting stint on the “Weekend Update” of “Saturday Night Live.”

“Oh yeah, with the mushroom cut?” Johansson joked.

The host then then asked her, “Would high school ScarJo be into high school Colin?,” to which the “The Black Widow” actress responded, “Umm, I don’t think so.”

“Personally, my brother had that same haircut, both of my brothers, and I just can’t. There’s no way. I mean, who decided on that cut as a stylish thing? What hairdresser was like, ‘I’ll try this’?” she added.

She also talked about how their relationship started at the right time, saying she and Jost had met several times before they officially started dating in 2017.

“It was just the timing was good. When we met, the timing was right,” she said.

“He’s a very—I think—a cute guy, but the other times that I was there, I was in a relationship and I was not looking. This time, it was the timing was right. He looked differently to me because I was available,” she added. “I’ve definitely been in relationships where the timing was not right, and I also think you have to recognize when it’s not the right person, but sometimes it’s a good person but the timing is off, and it’s important to be open to that too.”

Johansson and Jost got engaged in May 2019 after two years of dating each other. They tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at the actress’s New York home in October 2020.

Last August, the couple welcomed their son Como. Johansson is also mom to Rose Dorothy, her 7-year-old daughter with ex-husband Romain Dauria.
