Coldplay and Selena Gomez's collaboration, "Let Somebody Go," has received the music video treatment.

On Monday, the British band dropped an emotional music video to their single "Let Somebody Go" with Gomez. The song is part of Coldplay's ninth studio album "Music of the Spheres," which was released in October last year.

Directed by Dave Meyers, the music video follows Coldplay's frontman Chris Martin and Gomez as they deal with the pain of letting a loved one go.

The video, captured in black and white, began with Martin and the "Rare" singer embracing before he sings his line, "We had that kind of love / I thought that it would never end."

The video then showcased their struggles as they go into emotional solitude, reaching for each other but being unable to meet and climbing a never-ending staircase before the ground collapses beneath them. They grab onto each other as they fall.

The two stars eventually break their grips from each other and are once again separated after they get pulled in opposite directions as they "let go." The heart-wrenching music video ends by returning to the opening scene of the pair's emotional hug.

Fans immediately shared their reactions to the music video, with many praising Gomez, Coldplay and the entire team behind the project.

"I love it! The song, the video, the singers, everything about it! Well done to all involved in creating this masterpiece, it's gonna be a huge big hit!" Ingrid Gallagher commented on the music video on YouTube.

"Classic Coldplay, their videos are just as thoughtful as their melodies and words. There has always been something about their music that transcends basic emotion, and it lifts you up and fills your spirit," user KrisTomLuver wrote.

"It is amazing how loving and letting go are deep feelings, but equally as painful," Yndira Tovar wrote. "I cried because Selena really needs to let go of that someone, her life is so much more important than any painful past. I pray she lets go of that past, so she can shine again as the mesmerizing star she has always been. Maybe Chris will be able to heal her with this support. I loved this song and cried so much with it."

"Such a masterpiece. The video was a beautiful representation and I loved the significance of Selena's voice and her presence in the song. Wonderfully done," another fan commented.

Gomez shared on Instagram a behind-the-scenes photo with Martin from the shooting of the music video. In the snap, both stars stuck their tongues out to the camera and appeared to be having a blast during the filming.

She also shared a clip from the music video to her Instagram Stories. In a subsequent post, she uploaded the same photo with Martin, along with the song cover in which she and Martin share an embrace.

Gomez wrote that she was "so excited the video is out."

Meanwhile, Martin previously revealed that his band intends to stop putting out new music by 2025.

"Well I know I can tell you, our last proper record will come out in 2025, and after that, I think we will only tour," he said during a December 2021 interview with Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 2. "Maybe we'll do some collaborative things, but the Coldplay catalog, as it were, finishes then."

Coldplay is scheduled to go on an international tour in support of "Music of the Spheres," kicking off on March 18 in Costa Rica
