Reports that artist Selena Gomez wanted former boyfriend Justin Bieber and his fiancé Haley Baldwin to hurry up and get married was debunked by Gossip Cop.

The “fake news” that Gomez was getting ready to hear Bieber and Baldwin take wedding vows was “exclusively” reported by Hollywood Life.

“Selena has moved past her initial shock over Justin and Hailey’s quick engagement and she’s in a place of acceptance,” Hollywood Life claimed a friend of Gomez told the publication. “But it’s not something she really wants to talk about or hear about and for that reason she would really like Justin and Hailey to have their upcoming wedding sooner rather than later.”

“It’s kind of like ripping off a band-aid, she just wants the wedding to happen so it’s a done deal in her rear-view mirror,” the same friend added.

However, according to Gossip Cop, it is unlikely a friend of Gomez would choose to speak to a publication the actress-turned-singer has publicly announced to be untrustworthy.

According to one of her quotes, that was publicly documented, she has called the publication “never true.” She has also called it “the worst” in an interview with the Billboard.

And since Gomez never publicly spoke about the topic of Bieber-Baldwin’s relationship, there was a very good chance no close friend of hers will have discussed how the “Same Old Love” singer felt about the issue with a media outlet.

On top of that, Gossip Cop claimed Hollywood Life has tried milking the news of the “Sorry” artist’s engagement, soon after it was announced July 8. The mostly fraudulent publication has released more than 20 related stories revolving around Gomez since, including titles like “Selena Gomez: The One Birthday Gift She Wants From Justin Bieber Despite Their Split.”

What’s more, most of the so-called exclusive reports from the publication cites anonymous sources they claim were close to Gomez. Very rarely have the identities of the sources been made public.

The Hollywood Life report also cited an article from US Weekly– a comparatively reliable source – where Baldwin’s aunt Kim Basinger revealed her niece had already picked out her guest list for her wedding, suggesting the much-anticipated occasion might not be far away.

“Oh, it’ll be fun,” Basinger said. “[Hailey’s sister] Alaia [Baldwin] and [cousin] Ireland, they’re in the wedding. So believe me, I just — it’s cool! I think it’s sweet. It’s a very sweet thing. Happiness … We’re living in some really dire times right now.”

Basinger also shared her opinion about Bieber in the piece.

“I’m very, very happy for Hailey. I think it’s a good thing,” she said. “I think Justin’s a cool guy. I don’t really know him at all, but Ireland does, you know? I think he’s come through a rough road. He’s a really cool kid. I pray for them. I hope they’re cool. I hope they’re happy! It’s wild! I think it’s wild!”

However, regardless of whether Bieber and Baldwin take their time to sound the wedding bells or get to the “I do” part straight away, Gomez has certainly stayed tight-lipped about it so far.
