20th Century Studios is all set to remake the popular 1980 romantic comedy movie "Working Girl" and Selena Gomez is going to serve as its producer.

According to various reports, the studio is under final negotiations with the 30-year-old singer and the reboot might stream on Hulu. TV writer Ilana Peña, who is responsible for writing TV shows like "Diary of a Future President" and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," will pen the script based on the original flick.

Details about the new cast members and the plot have been kept under wraps. The original R-rated movie, released in 1988, was helmed by Mike Nichols and penned by Kevin Wade. The movie also featured the music track "Let the River Run."

The original movie is about a savvy receptionist Tess McGill (played by actress Melanie Griffith) in New York City. She gives her boss, Katharine Parker, (played by actress Sigourney Weaver) a great business idea but doesn't receive any credit for it. She then decides to take revenge on her boss.

Harrison Ford, Joan Cusack, Alec Baldwin, Kevin Spacey, Oliver Platt and Philip Bosco also appeared on the movie.

"Working Girl" earned many nominations, including the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, Academy Award for Best Actress and Best Picture, Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture, BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role and National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Actress.

This is not the first time Gomez is serving as a producer on a project. Previously, she worked as an executive producer on "The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex," "13 Reasons Why," "Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania," "Selena + Chef" and "Only Murders in the Building."

Gomez was recently seen in the TV series "Only Murders in the Building," where she played Mabel Mora's character. The series also featured comedy legends Martin Short and Steve Martin.

She, who celebrated her 30th birthday last month, will be next seen in the movies "In the Shadow of the Mountain," "Spiral" and "Emilia Perez."
