Steve Martin and Martin Short have reacted after their "Only Murders in the Building" co-star Selena Gomez did not receive an Emmy nomination in acting category, while they both were nominated.

Martin and Martin Short will be competing in the lead actor – comedy series category.

Aside from the actors, the mystery crime drama, which is streaming on Hulu, also earned nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series.

"Well, we're thrilled. We're thrilled at the nominations, not only for us but for the show," Martin told the New York Times on Tuesday. "We're dismayed that Selena was not nominated because she's so crucial to our performances, really."

Despite the acting snub, Gomez received an Emmy nomination as a producer for outstanding comedy series. She became the second Latina woman to get a nomination in that category after Salma Hayek. Gomez served as an executive producer for "Only Murders in the Building."

"Steve, let's do our joke from the show. Hey, Steve, how many Emmys do you have again?" Short said, referring to a joke from their 2018 Netflix show "An Evening You Will Forget for the Rest of Your Life."

"Oh, I want to say five. [pause] Well, I want to say five, but I have one," Martin joked. "If I were to win, I would be on a roll. Because that would be 53 years since my last win."

"Gee, I'd hate to see what you look like by the time you get your third win. I've won twice," Short said imitating the show's punchline.

Martin also explained how important the Emmy nomination was for him.

"It's a big honor for everybody. Because two years ago, we weren't working," he explained.

The first season of "Only Murders in the Building" was released last August. The second season of the show was dropped last month. Both the seasons are streaming on Hulu.

The series revolves around three people (Martin, Short and Gomez) who reside in the same apartment building. All three of them are obsessed with true crime. After they learn there was a murder in their building, they get involved by using their detective skills to investigate their neighbor's death.
