Selena Gomez has revealed that there was immense pressure on her to be overtly sexy in her music videos from the album “Revival.”

Speaking in an interview with Allure, the 28-year-old musician talked about various aspects of her professional and personal life. During the discussion, Gomez said that she was encouraged to adopt an adult appearance in her music videos, even though she was not really comfortable doing it.

The “Lose You To Love Me” hitmaker also shared that she did things that never really connected and did not feel like it was her real personality.

“I just did things that were not really me. There was pressure to seem more adult on my album, ‘Revival’. [I felt] the need to show skin. I really don’t think I was [that] person,” Allure quoted Gomez, as saying.

"Revival" was the second full-length studio album by Gomez and it was released in 2015. Songs like "Hands To Myself" and "Good For You" that were featured in the album had a lot of moments where the singer was seen baring some skin. She was 23 at the time when the album came out.

Later in the interview, she also opened up about one challenge that she faced for being famous at such a young age. The acclaimed singer shared that while she was really fortunate to start her career with Disney, things started to change after a couple of seasons.

“My personal life was out everywhere. It felt very claustrophobic and just, I felt very trapped,” Gomez said during the interview.

Gomez also revealed that she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and how it helped her “understand” her emotions. The singer said that she felt comfortable knowing that she was “not alone.”

“I have always had so many different emotions and I didn't know how to control them quite well. It was complicated. But I think I'm happy to understand it. Once I did find out more about who I was, I was proud. I also felt comfortable knowing that I wasn't alone, and I was going to get through it,” Gomez told Allure.

Earlier this year, while appearing on Miley Cyrus’ Instagram Live talk show “Bright Light,” Gomez first revealed that she has bipolar disorder. At the time, the “Rare” hitmaker also shared that she visited a hospital in Boston where it was confirmed that she has the particular condition.
