Selena Gomez has opened up about her recent breakup with The Weekend and reconnecting with her former boyfriend Justin Bieber.

In a new cover interview with Billboard, Gomez confirmed reports that she and The Weeknd ended their relationship amicably. “Something that I’m really proud of is that there’s such a true friendship [between me and The Weeknd],” the 25-year-old “Wolves” singer told the outlet. “I truly have never experienced anything like that in my life. We ended it as best friends, and it was genuinely about encouraging and caring [for each other], and that was pretty remarkable for me.”

Gomez and The Weeknd (Abel Makkonen Tesfaye), 27, split in October after 10 months of dating. While the reason behind their breakup is unclear, an insider told People last month the pair’s relationship became difficult because of The Weeknd’s touring schedule and Gomez’s shooting commitments for her upcoming Woody Allen film, “A Rainy Day in New York.”

“She and Abel have been going back and forth for a few months about their relationship,” the insider said at the time. “It’s been hard with him being on tour and her shooting in New York. That wasn’t easy on them.”

While Gomez suggested that she and the Canadian singer have remained friends since their split, the former Disney Channel star unfollowed The Weeknd on Instagram, and the “Starboy” crooner followed up with the same action.

As for reuniting with Bieber, whom she’s had an on and off relationship with since 2010, Gomez told Billboard: “I’m 25. I’m not 18, or 19, or 20. I cherish people who have really impacted my life. So maybe before, it could have been forcing something that wasn’t right. But that doesn’t mean caring for someone ever goes away.”

While Gomez didn’t explicitly say whether she and the “Sorry” hitmaker are dating again, the two were photographed kissing in November, seemingly confirming that they’re back together. The sweet moment took place during Bieber’s hockey game in Los Angeles.

According to TMZ, the “What Do You Mean” singer skated over to see Gomez during a timeout in the game, and she planted a kiss on his lips.
