Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan was honored with an award in recognition of his contribution to Indian cinema, at the opening ceremony of the 11th Marrakech International Film Festival (FIFM), on Dec. 2. The award was presented by Moroccan actress, Houda Rihani.

The FIFM, which runs till Dec. 10, is one of the country's biggest events dedicated to Moroccan cinema. In addition, the event honors actors from the rest of the world. This year, French actor Roschdy Zem also received a tribute, on Sunday, Dec. 4.

The festival's jury includes dignitaries from film industries across the world, including Romanian director Radu Mihaileanu, Iranian actress Leila Hatami, Filipino director Brillante Ma Mendoza, Moroccan actress Houda Rihani, Indian director and actress Aparna Sen, American actress Jessica Chastain, Serbian director Emir Kusturica (who is also President of the jury), Italian actress Maya Sansa, French director Nicole Garcia and Moroccan director Abdelkader Lagtaa.
