Shakira and her 8-year-old son were attacked by wild boars in Barcelona. The singer took to Instagram Wednesday to share the experience, saying the boars took her bag and destroyed everything in it.

In a series of now-deleted Instagram Stories, Shakira shared on Wednesday how the wild animals attacked them before seizing her bag and retreating with it into the woods. Holding her recovered but torn bag toward the camera, the singer said, “Look at how two wild boars, which attacked me in the park have left my bag.”

She then recalled how the boar took her bag with all her things and ran toward the woods. “They were taking my bag to the woods with my mobile phone in it,” she said. “They’ve destroyed everything.”

Although the singer and her son were lucky to escape the attack unscathed, Shakira revealed the ordeal didn’t come to an end without a fight. Turning to her son, whose father is Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique, she said, “Milan tell the truth. Say how your mummy stood up to the wild boar.”

Shakira’s story instantly became a hot topic on Twitter, with thousands of fans and followers sounding off on the wild story. “Man I will tell you what, there is no amount of coffee you can drink in the morning that will fully prepare you for a sentence like ‘Shakira was attacked by, fought off, wild boars in a Barcelona park,’” one Twitter user said.

Other Twitter users also generated memes to make fun of Shakira’s story. “I can’t tell which part of this I like the most, all the boar-related puns or the fact that Shakria made her son attest to the fact that she ‘stood up to them’ during the attack, but this poetry, to me,” a fan wrote. “If only Shakira had her gay tigers with her to protect her from those boars,” another wrote.

Shakira is the latest victim of the aggressive wild boars that have invaded Europe in recent years. In 2020, a family of wild boars wandered into a children’s playground in Rome, causing police officers to shoot them with tranquilizer darts.
