  • Shakira is one of the executive producers of “Dancing With Myself"
  • Contestants are given short time to learn dance routines before performing live

Shakira has partnered with NBC for a new reality TV series, "Dancing With Myself." Inspired by the singer's love for dance, the show is a family-friendly competition open to dancers of all ages and from all walks of life.

Participants will compete in weekly dance challenges that will be choreographed and demonstrated by the show’s celebrity creators, including the "Hips Don't Lie" singer herself, a report by Variety said.

“Isolated in their own pods, contestants have a short time to learn the new routines, add their unique flare, and then perform their hearts out in front of a live audience,” the rules of the dance competition show read.

“As each round of the competition progresses, Shakira and her judging panel provide instant feedback and encouragement, but, ultimately, it’s the studio audience that decides who wins Best Dancer of the Night and gets to take home the cash prize.”

Shakira expressed her excitement for the show through a statement shared by TVLine. “I’m excited to be a part of a dance competition that places such a high value on creative movement and how it translates into personal expression, not to mention how it contributes to a sense of community,” the singer said.

“I’ve personally been blown away by some of the talent I’ve seen, thanks to people having access to their own platforms through social media. Dance has been an incredibly potent force throughout my life, and I’m eager to show the world how transformative, empowering and fun it can be,” she continued.

The Colombian singer also announced the news on Twitter on Wednesday, saying, “It’s all you love about dance challenges but now a competition. I don’t wanna give too much away but I can’t wait for you to see it. Stay tuned."

Universal Television Alternative Studio and Irwin Entertainment are the series’ producers. Aside from Shakira, the other executive producers of the show are John Irwin, Dave Kuba, Eli Frankel and Ben Thursby-Palmer and Jaime Levine.

Recently, Shakira and her 8-year-old son Milan were attacked by wild boars while they were on vacation in Barcelona. The “Waka Waka” singer said the boars took her bag through the woods and dug through it. The boars eventually found her son’s sandwich inside her bag, left her damaged purse and walked away.
