Shawn Mendes is getting candid about the ups and downs of his relationship with his girlfriend, Camila Cabello.

The "Stitches" singer dished on how he and the "Havana" singer handle their arguments on Friday's episode of SiriusXM's "The Morning Mash Up," revealing that they make sure to be open and honest with each other to keep their relationship on track.

"We definitely fight, and we get in the worst little arguments. But I think that we definitely are pretty good at picking up on when it's just ego talking," Mendes was quoted by Billboard as saying. "And we usually call each other out. We have a really honest and open relationship, but yeah, we definitely fight."

The "Señorita" collaborators began dating in 2019 and have been inseparable since. In July, the pair shared photos from their romantic Caribbean getaway, where they celebrated their second anniversary together.

According to Mendes, the idea that relationships get easier with time is not true, especially in their case.

"The longer the relationship goes, it's like the easier it seems to be to fight," Mendes explained. "It's definitely not that holding-hands-all-the-time. We're really good with each other, it never gets bad. It's always like a little fight."

When asked what he does when he realizes he's wrong, the 23-year-old Canadian crooner said that he owns up to it, even if "it takes all my might in the entire world."

"It takes everything. My face probably looks like tight and red, but I say I'm wrong," he confessed. "Hopefully. I mean, maybe she would say something else. I'm sure. Sometimes I don't say I'm wrong."

In an interview with VMan last year, Mendes gushed over Cabello and how she helped him forge a closer relationship with his loved ones.

"I don't know if it was something that was a 'me thing' or a 'men thing,' but I think for seven years, I was on such a speedy path down one way with blinders on, and I wasn't keeping in touch with my family and friends...but when I landed with Camila, immediately she had her family around more," he said.

According to the singer, Cabello's close bond with her family and friends motivated him to pick up the phone and reach out more to his own family and "and all of these connections I felt were further away."

"I felt a little bit alone out there and she changed that for me," Mendes said.
