He switched to American Wrestling Association (AWA) promotion and gained success teaming up with Marty Jannetty as the Midnight Rockers. They would soon go on separate ways, paving the way for Michaels to debut his in-ring nickname of “Heartbreak Kid.”

The 55-year-old was able to capture the Intercontinental Championship three times, World Heavyweight Championship and WWE Championhip title in his storied career. Some of the signature moves he made popular were arm trap crossface, Figure-four leglock, Skin the cat, among others.

The Heartbreak Kid was not the typical wrestler at the time. Most wrestlers have hulky frames but Michales was able to use his lighter frame to perform acrobatic moves. Soon, his gravity-defying stunts captured the hearts of the audiences and they started rooting for him.

He was able to leverage his success in professional wrestling to the movies and appeared in “The Resurrection of Gavin Stone,” “Pure Country: Pure Heart,” and “The Marine 6: Close Quarters.”

Although he has retired many years ago, Michaels remains heavily involved in the industry. He is an ambassador of NXT and also acts as trainer under the promotion. Fans still have vivid memories of his battles with rivals The Undertaker, Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Triple H, Diesel, and John Cena.

The Chandler, Arizona native is married to Rebecca Curci Hickenbottom and they have two children together: Cameron Kade and Cheyenne Michelle.

When compared to the net worth of WWE superstar Brock Lesnar ’s $28 million, Michael’s net worth is a bit lower. Lesnar is still actively fighting professional wrestling and also fights in mixed martial arts promotions. There are reports he could go back to Ultimate Fighting Championship and chase a megafight against Jon Jones or Stipe Miocic.
