  • The Shiba Inu team had a meeting with Turkey's economy minister a few ays ago
  • It triggered speculations that SHIB would be adopted in the country
  • Shiba Inu was listed on a Turkey-based cryptocurrency exchange in February

Rumors about Shiba Inu's adoption in Turkey have been circling online over the past few days, but it appears that long before the government moved to adopt the dog-themed meme coin, an ambulance service in the country has already announced its acceptance of SHIB as payment.

The information came from a Twitter user and SHIB army follower who goes by the handle vetyusuf27. They shared images Saturday of a small business office, purportedly of Vita Plus, with a notice outside confirming its acceptance of Shiba Inu as payment. Vita Plus is a Turkey-based company offering ambulance services in the country.

One of the shared images, a close-up of the notice/poster, shows the Shiba Inu and Vita Plus logos side by side. Under the logos is a statement announcing, "Payment with Shiba Inu coin is accepted in this institution."

It was not immediately clear where the picture was shot, and International Business Times could not independently verify this information. A search on the Vitaambulans' Turkish-language site did not show any information on accepting SHIB.

Still, even if this adoption of SHIB is for a particular local office shown in the picture, it shows that the token is slowly and steadily gaining ground, aided by the relentless efforts of its development team and the fiercely loyal Shib Army.

Rumors about Turkey adopting SHIB have been rife online after Shiba Inu lead developer Shytoshi Kusama tweeted about a meeting that happened between some SHIB army members and government officials headed by Turkey's Economy Minister Mustafa Elitaş.

The meeting allowed the Shiba Inu team to showcase its technology for digital assets and their benefits to the government's representatives. In February, Bitexen, a Turkey-based cryptocurrency exchange, listed the "Dogecoin killer" on its platform.

"6 new #coin in Bitexen! _ $SHIB, $SUN , $CELO , $JST , $SLP and $GLMR are listed on Fast Buy/Sell after 15.15 today. The privilege of trading with more than 150 #kripto currencies, whether on mobile or the web, is at #Bitexen," the cryptocurrency exchange announced then.

SHIB has seen multiple listings in various exchanges across the globe in the past few months. For instance, Indian crypto platform Koinbazar launched the SHIB/USDT pair recently. Platforms such as CoinDCX, Bit2Me, Korbit, Coinhako, Gemini and Kraken now allow their users to trade the dog-themed meme coin.

Shiba Inu continues to attract more investors as it makes its name known worldwide. It is still one of the top 20 cryptocurrencies in market capitalization.

SHIB was trading up 1.41% at $0.0000218 with a 24-hour volume of $649,557,687 as of 10:25 p.m. ET on March 14, Coinmarketcap data showed.
