  • Rumors claimed the Shibarium will release in September
  • It is the layer-2 solution of the Shiba Inu ecosystem
  • SHIB was trading up 2.15% at $0.00001275

The excitement surrounding the launch of Shibarium, the layer-2 solution of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, is building up, following claims that it will roll out by the end of September.

However, the Shiba Inu team has released an update on the initiative's release to clarify the relentless rumors surrounding Shibarium.

Shibarium is one of the highly-anticipated Shiba Inu projects, as investors anticipate its arrival would mean lower gas fees. But, over the past months, the Shiba Inu development team, including its pseudonymous lead developer Shytoshi Kusama, have been very vague in spilling out the project's release window so as not to disappoint the community.

Interestingly, one of the Telegram moderators of XFund/Unification, the team handling the development of Shibarium, shared the release date of Shibarium via a tweet on Aug. 25.

"Shibarium 30th of September. Powered by $xFund," the tweet read.

This was immediately picked up by the Shib Army, the ever-fierce and loyal community of the Shiba Inu, and started making the rounds online, especially on Twitter. The tweet has since been deleted, a screenshot of it can be seen below.

The tweet is surprising, considering a major announcement like this one came from Unification and not the lead developer or the Shiba Inu development team.

To provide clarity within the community, Trophias, the co-lead of the SHIB Defense team, offered an update on the release of Shibarium.

"I feel that the SHIB Team needs to make a statement. No dates for Shibarium have been posted or authorized for release," Trophias said. "As for the xFund Community Team, they are separate."

Trophias noted, "Their community team does not have any information about Shibarium, the release date, or any other information about the detailed documentation that is coming. When ready, the dev(s) of Shibarium & the SHIB Team will be vocal."

The SHIB Defense team co-lead has nothing but good words for the developers working hard to make Shiba Inu's layer-2 solution possible.

"xFund and their devs are the Oracle services that we have selected! We support them and we know they'll smash it out of the park," they said.

Last month, Kusama was asked on Twitter about Shibarium's release date, but all they said was "soon" via a "Shiba Eternity" collectible card named #SOON, showing a seemingly working Shiba with the word DEV written on its back. They had, in the past, offered a not so vague answer about the layer-2 solution.

In June, on Welly's Discord, Kusama noted they were "already in discussion to beef up efforts," indicating the development team was working hard to meet the lead developer's target release window.

As of 1:32 a.m. ET on Tuesday, SHIB, the native token of the Shiba Inu ecosystem, was trading up 2.15% at $0.00001275 with a 24-hour volume of $378,060,155, based on the latest data from CoinMarketCap.
