“Game of Thrones” star Eline Powell will play the lead role in Freeform's upcoming TV series, “Siren.” Freeform

The official teaser for “Siren” Season 1 has just been released by Freeform.

According to Deadline, the series was originally titled “The Deep,” but it was later on changed by the network to “Siren.” The show will follow the life of a mysterious woman named Ryn (Eline Powell), who happens to be a mermaid. “Siren” also stars “The 5th Wave” actor Alex Roe, who will play the role of a marine biologist named Ben. He becomes extremely interested in getting to know Ryn, but his actual motive will be revealed much later in the season.

In the almost two-minute teaser, Ryn suddenly arrives in the city out of nowhere. She roams the streets and chances upon a woman who immediately realizes that she’s not human. The same woman is related to Ben because in the clip, the two have a confrontation about mermaids. Ben is interested in learning more about the creature, but the elderly woman doesn’t want to tell him anything else.

Also in the teaser, Ryn and Ben will have an encounter with each other. When he tries to approach her, Ryn seems terrified. But this feeling did not last when Ben tells her that he will not hurt her. By the looks of it, Ryn and Ben will develop a special bond, but the people in their town may not be supportive of it. When Ben tries telling his friends that mermaids are real, they all laugh at him.

“Siren” also stars Fola Evans-Akingbola, Ian Verdun and Rena Owen. The series is based on a story penned by Eric Wald and Dean White. “Siren” is slated for release on Freeform sometime next year.
