A hawk and a snake were caught on camera locked in a battle to death in a driveway of a home in Gordonsville, Tennessee, recently.

According to reports, 43-year-old Matthew Clement returned home from church to find the hawk and the reptile in the driveway. The man initially thought the grey rat snake and a red-tail hawk were dead, however, soon noticed the two moving.

Recalling the incident, the father-of-four said, “At first we thought they were both dead, then we noticed the hawk blink and the snake move. We took some pictures before we headed back to the house, as we decided to let nature take its course.”

"When we got back to the driveway 20 minutes later, the hawk was roosted on a tree above the road, and the snake was still on the gravel but not moving. We pushed the snake to the side and thought it was dead, but the next time we drove by it was missing, perhaps the hawk finished it off,” he added.

A photograph of the epic battle showed the hawk using its claws to hold the snake’s tail as the reptile wrapped itself around the bird’s neck. The exact date of the incident was not known.

The incident comes less than a month after a huge python was caught on camera suffocating a currawong outside a window in Australia. An unidentified tourist was shocked when he woke up to a carpet python dangling from the roof while strangling the bird. He immediately captured the moment and uploaded the photo on Reddit with the caption, “This is in Australia I have been here for a week and the legends are true about that place!”
