Sony was expected to unveil the Xperia Z5 successor at the MWC 2016 event in February. However, the Japanese tech giant surprised everyone by introducing a new “X” series with Sony Xperia X Performance, Xperia X and Xperia XA.

Sony noted that the Xperia X series of handsets will be made available for purchase across the globe in June. Nevertheless, the pre-registration window went live immediately after the device launch.

As it turns out, customers who pre-registered Sony Xperia X handsets via Sony Store are now receiving emails from Sony saying — buyers can soon preorder the devices. And, customers who preorder the Sony Xperia X, Xperia XA or the Xperia Ear will be entitled to receive an "exclusive offer," Xperia Blog noted.

However, Sony apparently did not reveal what the exclusive offer contains. It is being rumored that the offer could be reduction in price of the handsets for a limited period of time, similar to how HTC is offering a promo code that can be used to get $100 discount on the newly launched flagship HTC 10.

The other possibility is that Sony could offer some freebies along with the ordered device — much like how LG is offering an additional battery and a charging cradle free of cost with every order of the powerful flagship LG G5.

In any case, interested buyers should note that there is no way to ascertain if preordering Xperia X Performance will make the customer eligible for the exclusive offer. This is precisely because the promo image detailing the offer shows only the Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia Ear.

Sony recently acknowledged that the new Xperia X lineup replaces the Xperia Z series. Phone Arena, meanwhile, noted that the Xperia X Performance could be the flagship for 2016.

In general, Sony has a history of selling its devices as unlocked variants without relying on carriers. In the same way, the company will sell all three devices in the U.S.

It is worth mentioning that the Japanese tech giant was not offering the Xperia Z5 lineup for a long time in the U.S., after the initial launch in its home country. But then, many e-retailers like eBay and Amazon started selling the international variants of Z5. Several months after the global release, Sony started selling the Xperia Z5 series officially in the U.S.
