Spider-Man (Tom Holland) will soon make his entrance into the Marvel Cinematic Universe when the character debuts in “Captain America: Civil War.” Many are excited to see the latest version of the web-slinger fighting alongside heroes like Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans). When the new standalone “Spider-Man” movies arrives next year, fans can look forward to heroes from the MCU making an appearance.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed that Spider-Man will be on Iron Man’s side in “Captain America: Civil War,” while also providing some news that will really excite Marvel fans. Despite the fact that Sony Pictures currently holds the licensing to Spider-Man, characters from the MCU can still be in the “Spider-Man” movies.

“He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth,” Feige revealed.

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures made a deal in February 2015 that allowed Spider-Man to appear in the MCU. It now looks like the agreement works for Marvel Studios characters to hop over into Sony Pictures films as well.

Feige wouldn’t get specific as to which characters could show up in the new “Spider-Man,” but it does sound like it could be someone from “Captain America: Civil War.” The most likely candidate would be Tony Stark/Iron Man, who is rumored to act like a father-figure to the young Peter Parker in the upcoming movie. Stark will supposedly show Parker the ropes of becoming an Avenger. There’s also the possibility that anyone on Stark’s side can show up in the reboot. This includes Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Vision (Paul Bettany) and War Machine (Don Cheadle).

The latest trailer for “Captain America: Civil War” gave fans a first look at the new Spider-Man, who was shown taking the side of Iron Man. As Team Iron Man and Team Captain America square off with one another, Spider-Man jumps into the mix. He shoots his web at Captain America, ties up his hands and takes his shield away from him before landing on top of a car, where he greets everyone.
