There’s a new version of the Starbucks mobile app for iOS devices. Version 4.5 of the Order & Pay app introduces a more refined user interface and an improved map so it’s easier for users to locate nearby Starbucks stores and place their orders via the app.

Starbucks launched version 4.5 Monday via the iTunes store for iOS devices. In the release notes for the update, it is indicated there that the store finder in the Starbucks app has been improved with a new map feature as well as search and filter updates.

According to MacRumors, what the improved map does is make it easier for consumers to see the Starbucks stores that are closest to them. The refined UI also has a straightforward configuration, so locating the nearest store and placing orders before heading there has become very easy.

The one-tap filters of version 4.5 are neatly organized, so users can quickly locate the most suitable Starbucks store to place orders. What’s more is that once users tap on their selected store, they are instantly presented with a map and the most convenient directions to reach it.

The main menu of the Starbucks app has also been updated with images for each available product at a certain Starbucks store. The more intuitive and easy-to-use layout also makes food and drink selection very efficient.

Principal digital designer at Starbucks Jason Stoff also announced via Twitter that version 4.5 of the Starbucks for iOS app makes it possible for Touch ID and Face ID to work with Passcode Lock. Furthermore, he revealed that the latest update comes with “tons of bug fixes.”

Version 4.5 is the first update for the Starbucks app this 2018. It follows the minimal update, version 4.4.8, that was released on Dec. 20, 2017. That one simply came with bug fixes and performance enhancements. Meanwhile, version 4.4.7, which was released on Dec. 12, 2017, introduced better visualization of Reward stars and improved accuracy of the Search feature. It also enhanced the app’s compatibility with the iPhone X.

Speaking of the iPhone X, Apple has decided to reduce the device’s production target for the first quarter of 2018. The move is said to be a result of the disappointing sales of the 10th anniversary iPhone during the 2017 holiday season. Instead of manufacturing over 40 million more units, the Cupertino giant is now ordering around 20 million units of the iPhone X.
