With many across the U.S. clamoring to know when their stimulus check will arrive, the IRS has created an online tool to deliver information. The “Get My Payment” tool allows users to track their stimulus check with personal information.

Here’s how it works. Users can go to irs.gov and click on “Get My Payment.” Users can also find the page using the search function in the upper right-hand corner, or use this direct link. It’s important to ensure the correct site is used, as the sensitive information required could be used for identity theft.

Paging through the privacy statement, users will be prompted to enter four pieces of information. This lets the IRS know who they are so they can pull up their stimulus check status.

Users will need:

  • Their social security number
  • Their date of birth
  • Their street address
  • Their ZIP code

For those who aren’t receiving a stimulus check, or whose stimulus check is under review, entering the information will bring up a page saying “Payment Status - Not Available.”

For those receiving a check, the information should pull up a page with info on their specific check.

Massachusetts resident Justin Richards told WWLP, an NBC affiliate in Springfield, that the tracker helped him and his family learn about when his payment would arrive.

“March 17, 2021. So three days. That’s awesome. It doesn’t tell me how much the payment is because it varies from household to household,” he said. “My wife and my daughter and I are looking to invest in our first home so it’s very good timing for us.”
