Fans of the "The Strain" might be used to seeing Kevin Durand take life out of the world as vampire-hunter Fet on the FX series, but in real life the 41-year old actor just brought new life into the world instead. Durand announced on social media Monday that he's become a new father.

According to People, Durand and wife Sandra Cho welcomed their first child late Sunday night, daughter Amélie Moon Durand. The actor posted a black and white photo of him cuddling his new baby with caption, "“My wife and I are so proud to announce that we became parents yesterday! Amélie Moon Durand is here! So grateful n Happy!" Durand also tweeted the exciting news to fans and later thanked them for their well wishes.

Durand spoke to International Business Times about his FX series just over a week before his daughter's birth. The then-father-to-be could not wait to be a dad.

"We’re pretty excited. My life is completely all about pink frilly things now, I have a little girl coming. My wife is such a girly-girl and now she’s having a girl, it’s like everything is pink, which I don’t mind it’ll soften me up a bit (laughs)," Durand said.

As for "The Strain," after Sunday's episode 8, there are only two episodes left in the show's action-packed second season and Durand says to expect the unexpected.

"I remember when I read episode 7, I was like wow this feels bigger than our biggest episode last year and then I kept feeling that from 7 on," Durand said. "These episodes kept popping up and by the time you get to 9 you’re like, is this the finale? Because how can you raise the stakes higher. I didn’t know what to expect but the intensity keeps building and it keeps growing."

Speaking of episode 9, the synopsis for the upcoming hour reveals that Justine (Samantha Mathis) will have to go to some serious extremes to thwart a surprise invasion as Eph (Corey Stoll) and Setrakian (David Bradley) confront a familiar foe. Meanwhile, Nora (Mia Maestro) and Fet (Durand) set out on a vitally important mission.

With a new baby in the house Durnad might not be able to catch his own TV show, but fans can still tune in Sundays at 10 p.m. EDT on FX.
