Summer is right around the corner, and though you may have spent the last five months hiding under bulky jackets and winter hats, there’s no time for that when temperatures and humidity soar. The condition of your skin and hair matters during the summer, and we’ve got some of the best all-natural beauty products to nourish both from the inside out.

“I’m glad to see a lot of innovation in natural makeup and skincare,” Trae Bodge, senior lifestyle editor and beauty expert for RetailMeNot told IBTimes. “Ten years ago, I didn’t even want to talk about natural makeup because the product itself, the performance was frankly terrible.”

Now, organic and natural brands have come a long way, and we’ve tested out some of this season’s most popular products. Check out our recommendations for summer beauty must-haves below:

1. Acure Organics Facial Cleansing Gel Superfruit + Chlorella ($9.99)

This cleanser is perfect for oily summer skin – it removes dirt and residue gently, while activating new cell growth. The gel also washes away makeup using antioxidants, organic olive oil and chlorella, which are certified fair trade. “The skin does tend to get oilier during the summer, so you can often pull back on heavier or richer products, and you might want to ramp up cleansing products,” Bodge explained.

2. Dr. Hauschka Skin Care Rose Day Cream ($45)

This skincare classic is light enough for use during the warmer months, but still powerful enough to moisturize parched summer skin. The formula contains rose petals, wild rose hips, shea butter and avocado oil to retain and balance moisture, and is suitable for dry, normal and sensitive skin types.

3. Kora Organics Enriched Body Lotion ($54)

This lotion is from former Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr’s skincare line, which boasts all natural, organic products that are surprisingly effective. The formula contains cocoa butter, macadamia and jojoba, yet it’s surprisingly non-greasy and light – perfect for summer heat and nurturing sunburnt skin.

4. Suki Concentrated Clarifying Toner ($32.95)

Dirt and oil can really cling to skin during the summer, but Suki’s clarifying toner removes oil and prepares skin for serums and moisturizers. The toner contains vitamin C and salicylic acid to fight oil and buildup, as well as aloe and rose hip to soothe skin.

5. Bioelements Probiotic Anti-aging Serum ($69)

It’s a bit pricey, but this anti-aging serum stops sun damage from the summer sun’s UVA and UVB rays before it starts. The product should be worn under a moisturizer that includes sun protection. Its formula battles aging and external stressors with a blend of probiotics immersed in soy and rice milk.

6. Jane Iredale Golden Shimmer Face and Body Lotion ($32)

“We tend to see colors getting lighter, perhaps more shimmery during the spring and summer,” Bodge said. But don’t worry, you can cheat your way to glowing summer skin. This limited edition formula creates a subtle veil of shimmer while also hydrating skin. The lotion contains green and white tea extracts to protect skin from outdoor damage, grapefruit to illuminate and brighten naturally and apple fruit extract to firm and smooth.

7. 100 Percent Pure Luminous Primer ($35)

Wearing primers in the summer can clog your pores and feel heavy, since many contain silicone to smooth pores. 100 Percent Pure’s primer uses ingredients like aloe, jojoba seed oil, vitamin C, green tea leaf extract and resveratrol to smooth and brighten complexions under makeup. “During the spring and summer, makeup tends to get lighter,” Bodge said. The formula doesn’t feel heavy and uses light-reflective pigments to diffuse the look of wrinkles and lines.

8. 100 Percent Pure Long Last Liquid Eyeliner

“Liquid eyeliner, which has been popular for several seasons, is not going away,” Bodge told us. “It’s getting a lot more creative, maybe a more dramatic cat eye than usual. Because it’s been such a trend, people are getting a little bit more comfortable with it.”

This formula from 100 Percent Pure gets its rich pigment from crushed, micronized black tea leaves instead of synthetic dyes. The eyeliner is long lasting and smudge proof and will definitely last through a summer picnic or day at the beach.
