Environment ministers from G20 nations failed to agree on peaking global emissions by 2025 and other crucial issues to address the global climate crisis at their meeting in India on Friday.
"A sherpa, in a way guides or shepherds the process of planning, negotiation and implementation of the agenda for a particular member country," a T20 secretariat research coordinator for Think20 said. "Their work begins way ahead of the summit as they organize the agenda and look for political consensus at the highest levels."
India seems to be trying to avoid the Ukraine war issue from from superseding its own agenda -- issues of the Global South -- at the summit.
Companies making "runaway profit" should "dedicate at least 20% of the profit to those countries that are most affected like us," Bangladesh's Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said.
The gathering will serve as the culmination of multiple ministerial meetings, working groups, and engaged forums focused on global health, sustainable energy, and digital transformation that have taken place over the past year.
