Taylor Swift revealed she cried watching Simone Biles at the Tokyo Olympics. In a heartwarming exchange with the athlete, the Grammy-winning singer thanked Biles for being an inspiration to many.

Biles made her grand return to the Tokyo Summer Olympics Tuesday after withdrawing from her events last week citing mental health issues. She took home bronze in the balance beam.

As Biles returned to the Olympics, NBC dropped a new promo featuring Swift cheering on her and the other athletes.

“Put mental health first because it shows how strong of a competitor and person that you really are,” Swift said in the promo video.

“Throughout the last week, her voice has been as significant as her talents. Her honesty is as beautiful as the perfection that had long been her signature. But don’t you see? It still is. She is perfectly human. And that’s what makes it so easy to call her a hero. Simone Biles, back on the beam, in Tokyo,” she added, as “This Is Me Trying” from her 2020 album plays in the background.

Biles took to Twitter to share the video and thank Swift for the promo.

“I’m crying. How special. I love you @taylorswift13,” she tweeted. In response, Swift wrote, “I cried watching YOU. I feel so lucky to have gotten to watch you all these years, but this week was a lesson in emotional intelligence and resilience. We all learned from you. Thank you.”

Last week, Swift narrated another NBC promo for the women’s gymnastics individual all-around competition at the Tokyo Olympics to build the hype around the event. The promo featured the title track of her 2020 album, “Evermore.”

Several other celebrities also expressed their support for Biles after she withdrew from her events last week. On Wednesday, Justin Bieber posted a photo of the athlete on Instagram to praise Biles for prioritizing her mental health over the competition.

“Nobody will ever understand the pressures you face!” he wrote in the caption. “I know we don’t know each other but I’m so proud of the decision to withdraw. Sometimes our no’s are more powerful than our yes’,” he added.
