An Illinois high school teacher was arrested Wednesday after she had sex with a 14-year-old boy for months.

According to the criminal complaint filed in the federal court Wednesday, 51-year-old Dayna Chidester, a teacher at Reed-Custer High School, had sex with the victim at her home, car and hotels. The incidents took place between September and December 2018. It came to light in January after the accused confided with one of her students about it.

Following this, authorities in Will County were alerted. After tracing the victim, who was not her student, the investigators executed a search warrant on the boy's phone and found several text messages exchanged between the two. The investigators also found nude photos of the accused.

During interrogation, the victim said he and the accused had sex “15 to 20 times” and that they also exchanged sexually explicit photos. He added that the accused purchased him gifts “including a robe and a longboard skate board.”

The accused was arrested in January and charged with sexual abuse of a minor but released on bond. The state charges were, however, dropped and she was arrested by FBI agents Wednesday. During a brief court hearing the same day, prosecutors sought Chidester be held in jail without bond. She was scheduled to appear in court again Friday afternoon. Chidester could face a minimum sentence of 15 years in federal prison if found guilty.

The incident comes less than a month after a Wisconsin teacher was charged for having sex with a 15-year-old student and exchanging explicit videos through Snapchat. Investigation began after a teacher and some students alerted the school district about it. Investigation revealed that 23-year-old Talia Jo Warner sent videos of herself performing a sex act to a 15-year-old sophomore between October and December 2018. The two met outside the school and had two sexual encounters. Warner was arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child, use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and child enticement.
